Gerard Baker laments what he calls western's guilt, which makes it difficult to get over Muslim’s self-pity and to use all the means necessary to fight terrorism. He makes the following point, "We should be careful to ensure that “flying while Muslim” does not become a new offence in the criminal code. As critics have said, not only is it wrong, it is almost guaranteed to increase sympathy for the real terrorists. But those singled out for increased scrutiny must also accept that profiling is going to save us lives. In a world of limited resources and clearly identifiable threats it is entirely legitimate, indeed necessary, to subject certain individuals to greater attention than others." Ah, I have heard that argument before; it is the same, which David M from the Thunder Run makes. However, I agree with Andrew Anderson because I believe that ethnic profiling is not the solution to terrorism and that in a free society, asking a group of people to sacrifice themselves for the common good is unacceptable because we know from reading Camus that an end that requires unjust means is not a just end.
