Jim Webb, the Democratic candidate in the Virginia Senate race is under fire for some salacious parts of his novels, which involve of course sex and incest. Is it just me or is this campaign more entertaining and more creatively nasty than usual? I wonder what is the point of the Allen campaign pointing to Webb's books, are they trying to say that his writing reflects his values? I know it is rhetorical question, but I’m just stunned by the fact that they are able to make this argument and to get away with it. However, I think that what is going to make the implicit charge that Webb is a lewd character is that his writing is just going to confirm his portrayal in Allen's negative ads and that is that he is a sexist pig who can sees sex everywhere for he once said that the Naval Academy was a horny woman's dream. I will make the following prediction, Allen is going to win the race by 2% unless Webb is able in the next two days to come back with some graphic proofs that confirm the image of Allen that he has tried to create and that is the one of insensitive, corrupt and out of touch Bush Republican. I can't wait for the election.
