Trent Lott won the race to be Minority Whip. His comeback shows two things about politics. The first thing is that a political come back is always possible. The second thing that this comeback shows is that Lott actually was actually an effective leader in the Senate. Bill Frist's time as Majority Leader showed that not everybody can do the job and that it requires actually some skills and the willingness to take the job seriously and not to see it as a stepping stone to run for President. I think that Trent Lott deserves his second chance because on the contrary to so many, he continued to work behind the scene after his fall from grace and made the choice not to become a bitter and hateful figure.
