Charles Bremmer writes on Gaddafi's visit in Paris and the controversy surrounding it. Sarkozy is defending the visit by arguing that it is important to encourage Libya, which has changed its ways and forsaken Terrorism. I think that that long visit from Gaddafi (he is spending 5 days in France and even had the honor of visiting the French parliament) shows is that Sarkozy is a fan of Realpolitik especially when it is economically beneficial for France since Gaddafi is going to sign contracts, which are worth billions of Euros. Well all of this controversy just shows that a politician is a politician is a politician. The interesting is that Kouchner is staying silent and I have to say that I'm not surprised, but still a little bit disappointed but at the same time, I wonder if realism in foreign policy is the least dangerous ideology and if it isn't inevitable that at the end, all idealists and humanists have to become realists either by pure cynism or because they realize that they can't change the world with only noble sentiments.

If you are disappointed, imagine how the Libyans feel!!
France and many other Western governments have funded and collaborated with terrorists themselves. They are in no moral position to preach to others
