Beijing

The Olympics have officially started and yet, I don't seem to be able to care because I feel that they have become just another huge sporting event, without soul. What used to distinguish the Olympics from other sporting events before was the sense they were different, because money and glitter didn't matter. It is no longer true. Another detail which I found amazing is that in the US the Opening Ceremony will be broadcasted more than ten hours after it has happened. I wasn't alive in 1976, but I feel as though we are back in those days when the networks believed that they could manufactured the Olympics experience of their viewers.
